It is pertinent to mention here that Naib Tehsildar Exam i marred with Postpones and Court Stays. After conducting the Exam in April, 2018, the Selection Process was stayed again and it was only in the 2nd week of Sept, that the Stay was vacated and Instructions were issued to SSB to completing the Selection Process.

As per the results announced by JKSSB, 860 Candidates have been Shortlisted for Interview. That means, JKSSB has Shortlisted the Candidates in the Ratio of 1:5 to the No. of posts. 

In case, you have any Queries, related to the Result, OR You can are Satisfied with the Naib Tehsildar Result, then you should contact the JKSSB with in 10 Days from the Date of announcement of Results, failing which NO Claim will be Entertained. 


When Merit List will be announced?

Applicants should note that the Current List do not reflect the Merit of the candidates. Infact, this is the Shortlist for Interview. where candidates have been Shortlisted in the Ratio of 1:5 to the No. of vacancies. 

As per the Official Information, Merit List will be displayed only after the completion of Selection Process. Moreover RTI Queries, with respect to the result, will be Entertained only after the announcement of Final Result.

1. The candidature of the candidates mentioned in Annexure “A” of this notice is provisional and is be subject to scrutiny of original certificates / documents at the time of interview.

2. The result does not reflect the order of merit of candidates.

3. The interview schedule shall be notified separately.

4. The test for working knowledge of Urdu (Objective and Descriptive), which is also required to be qualified by the candidates shall be notified separately after conclusion of the process of interview/viva voce in respect of such candidates only who present themselves for interview/viva voce.

5. The cut off score out of 120 marks in respect of various categories is indicated at Annexure “B” of this notice for the information of the candidates.

Earlier the Recruitment for Class IVth posts is directly done by District Level Committees, but Now the Recruitment for Class IVth posts shall be done by JKSSB on the basis of Written test only.

Eligibility: Minimum:10th and Maximum: 12th

In the month of January 2019, J&K Government has asked all the Administrative Secretaries to identify all the vacant Class IVth posts in their departments and forward the vacancies to GAD. The cut-off date for submitting the vacancies to JKSSB is 31st Jan 2019.

It is more than a year since the vacancies were forwarded to GAD. However there is No Advertisement by JKSSB for Class IVth Posts in 2019 and Now,it is expected that JKSSB will soon announce the advertisement of Class-IV Posts in coming months ie (June 2020) onwards

No Interview for JKSSB Class IVth Recruitment in J&K

On 15th Sept 2018, Government of J&K has issued SRO-404 making Written Exams as the Sole Criteria for the Recruitment of Class IVth Posts.

With this new rule, the Government has dispensed with Interviews for Class IVth Posts.

With Previous Rules, the Selection Process for the Recruitment of Class IVth posts comprises of Academic Qualification + Interview. With abolishing the Interview and Making Written Test as criteria for selection, Government gives a strong message that all the Upcoming Jobs in J&K even at the lowest level will be filled with impartially and complete Transparency will be followed.

This a remarkable thing is the History of J&K, as Class IVth posts are subjected to Nepotism as Entire Recruitment process lies in the hands of Department heads.

22000 Class IVth Posts in J&K: Is it Real?

We are not saying this. 

On 8th March 2020, "The Hindu" reported that there are 84000 Vacant Posts in Jammu and Kashmir. Out of these 84000 Posts.

i) 7552 Gazetted Posts
ii) 543375 Non-Gazetted Posts
iii) 22078 Class IVth Posts.

Moreover, these figures are given by the Government of India in the Parliament, after Senior Congress Cogress Leader Tabled a report and asked the Govt "“to expedite the recruitment process and fill the vacancies in a time-bound manner".

So Don't worry, this JKSSB Class IVth Recruitment for 22000 posts will be advertised sooner or Later.

Who Can apply for Class IVth Posts in J&K?

Applicants willing to apply for Upcoming Class IVth posts in J&K must full fill the below-mentioned eligibility conditions. 

1) Domicile: Applicant should be a Domicile of Jammu and Kashmir as per the New Domicile rules issued on 1st April 2020

2) Age Limit: There is no change in the age criteria and all the persons within the Limit of 18 to 40 years can apply for these posts.

3) Qualification: There is no change in the Qualification criteria, which also remains the same.

To apply for JKSSB Class IVth posts, the Minimum qualification is Matric and Maximum is 10+2.

Selection Criteria 

Selection Process is one thing, that has undergone a major change in the recent times. In Sept, 2018, Government has abolished the Interviews for Class IVth posts. Previously Selection criteria comprises of Academic Merit (of 10th and 12th) and Interview.

The Revised selection criteria comprises of Merit obtained in Written Exam only. No Interview, No Academic Marks. Selection by Marks Obtained in the Written Test.

GAD withdraws Recruitment for 790 Class IVth Posts

In 2006, 790 Class IVth posts were referred to Divisional Commissioner of Jammu and Srinagar for Recruitment through Open Competition. Even after the passage of 14 years, the concerned authorities did not show any concern and posts remained unfilled. Even the Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir showed their inability to conduct the Exams for these posts. 

Now General Administration Department vide Order No. 284 -JK(GAD) of 2020 Dt. 26-02-2020 withdraws these 790 posts and asked the Divisional Commissioners to return these posts to their respective departments, which shall refer these posts to GAD for their further referral to JKSSB 

This means this posts will be clubbed with the already vacancy posts in various departments and will be advertised in the .

Syllabus for JKSSB Class IVth Written Exam 2020

Until previous years, the selection process for the Recruitment of Class IVth posts comprises of Academic Merit and Interview only.

It is for the first time, that Written Tests are prescribed for Class IVth Posts in J&K. All the selections shall be done on the basis of Merit obtained in the Written Exam only. 

As far as Syllabus is concerned, then at this time, we don't have any concrete Information, because Syllabus will be released only after the announcement of Official Notification. 

However, we are expecting that Syllabus for JKSSB ClassIVth Written Exam will be mix of Syllabus that JKSSB Prescribed for Matric Level and 10+2 Level Posts. If you have appeared in the JKSSB Matric Level Exams and JKSSB 10+2 Level Exams, then you should be aware of the Syllabus.

We all know, that Eligibility Criteria for Recruitment of Teachers in All over the country (For Center Schools Like, KV's, Army Schools, Navodaya Vidyalayas) is Graduation, but J&K is the only state where even 10+2 are appointed as Teachers, which is below par the standard eligibility. 

Now, Government had amended the Rules for Recruitment of Teachers in J&K and made Graduation, as the minimum qualification for the recruitment of teachers in J&K.

In this regard, on 6th September, 2016, the Education Department, had released the SRO-290, that Details the changes, made in the Recruitment of Teachers in J&K. It is worth mentioning here that this New Criteria and Rules, will came into effect from the

SRO 290 : Official Rules Regarding Recruitment of Teachers

SRO means the Order of Government.


On 6th September, the J&K State Education Department had released the SRO-249, by exercising its powers as conferred by Section-124 of Constitution of J&K and make amendments in the Jammu and Kashmir, School, Education, Service Recruitment Rules, 2008

Here is the Revised Eligibility Criteria and Method of Recruitment.




  • Graduation, is the minimum qualification, but preference, will be given to those having higher qualification like PB/B Ed. / M Ed.

What about Selection Process and Exam Pattern ?


The details, regarding the and Exam Pattern, will be known only after the announcement of JKSSB Teacher Notification. It is worth mentioning here that State Government is planning to scrap the Interview system for Non-Gazetted posts, that includes teachers too.

So, the Selection will be done, purely on the Performance in the Written test and Academic Merit taken together. Earlier, there is 65% weighatge for Written test, 15% for Academic Qualification, and 20% for Interview. Now, with the abolishment of Interview, this is to been how the departments, adjusts the Interview points.

However. the most likely, scenario regarding the Distribution of marks, will be 

1) Written test : 80 Marks
2) Academic Merit / Higher Qualifications: 20 Marks.

But, remember, this is just our prediction and there is nothing official in it. 

So, you have to wait till the announcement of JKSSB Recruitment 2016 Notification.

On 16th October 2017, JKSSB has announced the Recruitment Notification for 1289 various posts. It is worth mentioning here that this is the Second Recruitment Notification of 2017. Out of these 1289 Posts, 575 are Jr. Assistant Posts, while remaining are other posts having specialized criteria other than Graduation, We will discuss these posts in our Upcoming post.

Aspirants looking for Teaching Jobs in J&K, have high hopes from this School Education Job Notification, but to their utter surprise, there were No Post of Teachers in this Notification. As per the information available from various sources, it was informed, that Teacher posts will be announced soon, after the Education Department, fixes the Recruitment Rules for Teacher posts. It is worth mentioning here that Teacher posts were also referred to JKSSB, however, there is No explanation by the Department, on the Selection process and therefore, JKSSB

Applicants must note that Recruitment for these posts, will be done for School Education Department, and posts will be filled on District cadre basis ie Candidates can apply for posts advertised for their respective District only. However, candidates belonging to SC/ST categories can apply for posts in any district irrespective of the District they belong to.

Who can apply for Jr. Assistant Posts?


Applicants willing to apply for Jr. Assistant Posts in JKSSB, must full fill the below mentioned eligibility conditions

1) Domicile: Applicant should be a permanent resident of Jammu and Kashmir. For District cadre posts, applicants belonging to the specific district can apply.

2) Age Limit: Applicants must have attained the age of 18 years and maximum age should not exceed 40 years. However, there is relaxation is upper limit as per the below-mentioned criteria

i) SC/ST/RBA/ALC/OSC: 43 years
ii) Physically challenged Candidates: 42 years
iii) EX-Serviceman: 48 years

3) Education Qualifications: Applicants willing to apply for Jr. Assistant Jobs in School Education Department, must full fill the below-mentioned eligibility conditions


i) Basic Qualification:  Applicant must have completed Degree in any Discipline from a recognized University in India. It is further clarified that Degree here means Graduation of minimum 3 years Duration after 10+2. Those having completed Integrated PG having Duration of 5 years after 10+2 are also eligible to apply

ii) Computer Literacy: Applicant should be a Computer Literate with Knowledge of Type Writing having speed not less than 35 Words Per Minute. Applicant should possess SIX Months Computer Certificate from a recognized Institute.

Apart from this, candidates having complete Graduation and Post GRaduation in Computers are exempted from having Six Months Computer Certificate Course.

1) BCA/MCA
2) B Sc (IT) / M Sc (IT)
3) BE / B Tech ( Computer / IT)

Selection Process for Jr Assistant Posts


The Selection process for the Recruitment of Jr. Assistants in JKSSB comprises of  Typing Test and followed by a Written test.

There is No Interview for Jr. Assistant posts in Education Department. It is worth mentioning here that following the footsteps of Central Government, State Government Departments are doing away with Interviews for Non-Gazetted posts and state Education Department is the First to abolish Interviews for Jr. Level posts

1) Typing Test: All those candidates who apply for Jr. Assistant Posts will have to appear for Type Test at various Venues in the State. The Date of type tests will be announced in the coming months, possibly in Nov / Dec 2017.

Applicants appearing for the Typing test shall have to necessarily obtain Type speed of Minimum 35 Words Per Minute (WPM) with 90% accuracy to be shortlisted for the Written test.

Type Test carries weightage of 60 Points out of 100.

2) Written Test: Those, who qualify the Typing test, will be called for the Written Test.

Written test comprises of Objective Questions, having Multiple Answers. For the First time, JKSSB has introduced Computer-Based Tests for various posts and likewise Written Exam for Jr. Assistant Jobs will also be held through Online mode.

 If you have applied for Jr. Assistant Exams, then you should start practising the Typing Test, as only those candidates who Qualify the type test, will be called for the Written Tests.

Moreover, the type test carries weightage of 60 Points, so scoring more marks in the Type test, will maximize your chances of being selected in the Final Merit List.

Applicants willing to apply for Jr. Assistant Posts in Education Department should submit their applications through online mode before 11th Nov, 2017

Online Application: Applications are to be submitted through online mode only at the JKSSB Online Portal at www.ssbjk.in. Before you submit the online form, make sure you have an Account on the JKSSB Website, otherwise, you won't be able to fill the online form

Application Fees: Applicants need to pay Rs 350  as application fees, which can be paid either through online mode of through offline mode. Candidates can also make the payment through CSC Connect.
